Hello! My name is James Steininger and I am currently working toward my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in manufacturing at Purdue University. I plan to graduate in May of 2024.

This is a portfolio of the work that I have completed during my years at Purdue. In it, you will find items from coursework, work experience, and personal projects. In case you are interested, here is my Project Lead The Way Portfolio from high school.

Here is a little more about myself:

Last summer, I completed an internship at Motorola Solutions Inc. in Elgin, IL and Chicago IL as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern. My projects can be seen on this page.

The summer prior to that, I completed an internship at SMC Corporation of America in Noblesville, Indiana. There, I was a Thermo-Chiller Intern. Some of the projects I completed are covered on this page

Before that, I was employed at Motorola Solutions as an electronics assembler. There, I worked directly on the production floor, assembling, testing, and packaging industrial grade two-way radios used in public safety applications. I also gained experience in the warehouse where I prepared orders by picking components to be assembled on the production floor.

Prior to this, I worked at a restaurant chain called Blaze Pizza where I learned basic customer service skills and inventory processes. As a bonus, I learned how to make some pretty good pizza.

I have a strong interest in CAD software; I often use SolidWorks to create 3D plans of woodworking and other projects I like to build in real life. I also have a great deal of experience using Microsoft Office applications through my coursework at Purdue. Other skills I have strengthened during my studies are time management, public speaking, analytics, and especially teamwork and leadership.

Here at Purdue, I am involved in the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity. With the fraternity, I have formed industry connections, found peers to study with, and played intramural sports. I was also involved with the Purdue Baja Racing team where I learned and honed many of my SolidWorks skills. I am currently involved in the Purdue 3D Printing Club. I plan on exploring more of the clubs and societies that Purdue has to offer during the rest of my studies. Some of my hobbies include writing music, playing the guitar and harmonica, swimming and lifting at the gym, and playing soccer and basketball.
